On Friday, long term TMR favourite Show Boy delivered an ambitious new EP. Its magnificent title track 'Ishtar Lion' announces itself with fluttering bongos that beckon an impactful, R&B-inspired beat and dramatic synthesized strings. Somehow managing to sonically encapsulate the decadence of Ancient Egyptian rulers against a backdrop of addictive noughties pop, namely NSYNC, it's safe to say Show Boy is a uniquely flamboyant talent. Reflected in the striking accompanying artwork (painted by Wooze member Jamie She), which is in turn post-modernly paid tribute to by the press shot, Ishtar Lion is a bold and transportive release by a one-of-a-kind artist with an uncompromising vision. -Holly Mullineaux
